How Do Colonial Shutters Work?

Colonial shutters are simple to use because they remain attached to the home. During normal weather, the panels sit open flat against the wall on either side of your window, held by heavy-duty hinges.

When it’s time to prepare for severe weather:

Swing the panels closed: Bring each shutter in from its open position toward the center of the window.

Lock them into place: Secure the panels at the center seam using the shutter’s locking hardware, from either inside or outside the home.

Reopen them after the storm: Once conditions are safe, the shutters swing back open to their normal position against the wall.
